1876 Mr Pickering exhibited a direct-acting steam pump at the Philadelphia Exhibition
1905 Pickering based in Berwick-on-Tweed were founded.
Pickering had one single-decker running in Penrith and a double-decker; however this vehicle was only exhibited.
The bus had a four-cylinder Pickering engine 35-40hp and a dual ignition system.
The engine drove through a metal to leather clutch and then via a telescopic link to a three speed gearbox.
