1853 Bankrupt. 'Notice is hereby given, that William Thomas Jemmett, Esq. one of the Commissioners of Her Majesty's Court of Bankruptcy at Manchester, acting in the prosecution of a Petition for adjudication of Bankruptcy, filed on the 21st day of September, 1852, against George Clarke Pauling and Robert Chapman Sharp, both of Manchester, in the county of Lancaster, Merchants and Contractors for Public Works, Dealers, Chapmen, and Copartners, trading under the style or firm of Pauling and Company, did, on the 10th day of January 1853, allow Robert Chapman Sharp, one of the said bankrupts, a Certificate of conformity of the first class; and that such Certificate will be delivered to the said bankrupt, unless an appeal be duly entered against the judgment of such Court, and notice thereof be given to the Court. 1909 Contracted to build a section of the Rhodesia-Katanga Junction line, under the direction of George Pauling[9]
1911 Contracted to build a railway line for the Southern Sao Paulo Railway Co[10]
1911 Contracted to build a Railway line in East African Protectorate for the Magadi Soda Co[11]
1913 Had a contract for a line from Canton to Chengto in China[12]
1920 Gained the contract for the construction of a railway for the Trans-Zambesia Railway Co[13]
1930 The company was one of a group of 6 contractors who had agreed to fund putting a bill through Parliament and obtaining necessary geological information for the Channel Tunnel Co and had agreed to build the British half of the tunnel[14]
1931 Contract with Swansea Borough Council for engineering works in connection with the Swansea electricity station scheme[15]
1933 Partnership formed with J. W. Gibson to build the Gebel Aulia dam in Egypt[16]
1947 Involved in the ground nut scheme in East Africa[17]
1959 Constructed the new London embassy for the American government[18]
1961 Pauling and Co Overseas were awarded the contract for a drainage scheme in British Guiana[19]
1967 Won contract to build the new capital for British Honduras[20]
