1917-30 George Herdman Professor of Geology, Liverpool University.

During War, Geological Adviser to M. of M.; has held important offices with The British Assoc. and other learned societies from whom he has received numerous medals and awards. Author of books and papers, some of which deal with the application of Geology to Eng. problems, especially water supply.

1930-1939 (present) Professor of Geology, Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London.
