Oscar Stephen Thompson (1877-1937)

1877 Born in Aberdeen the son of Cornelius Thompson, Ship Owner, and his wife Agnes Marion Williamson

Brother of Muriel Annie Thompson

1901 Living at 17 Seymour Street, St. Marylebone: Oscar Thompson (age 23 born Aberdeen), Shipowner. Four servants.[1]

1911 Listed in Hotel Victoria, Northumberland Avenue W.C: a Ship Owner and Single.[2]

1937 July 25th. Died.

Oscar Thompson was born in 1878 and in 1894 he joined the Aberdeen Line of Steamships, of which his grandfather was the founder.

He was responsible for the design of the later steamships of the line and was well known in the automobile world for his interest in racing, his car Pobble being a well-known feature on the Brooklands Track.

During the War he fitted up the car as an ambulance and drove it himself in France under the French Red Cross.

He died on 26th July, 1937, at the age of 59.

He was elected an Associate in 1911.
