Former Secretary of ASME, he was educated at Baltimore Institute and Lehigh University, USA. He received his professional training at [[Brooklyn Edison Co]], New York where he was engaged in various engineering activities until 1941 when he was seconded to the Production Service Division in the War Production Board of the US Government. | |||
Mr Schier transferred to the US Navy in 1943 to become Field Officer in the Industry Co-operation Division, followed by service as Disposal Officer in the Navy Material Redistribution and Disposal Office in the years 1945-46. | |||
He joined ASME in 1946, serving first as a Divisional Manager, followed by a period of three years as Assistant Secretary in charge of their Field Service activities, to become Deputy Secretary in 1956. On the retirement of Clarence F. Davies (Fellow), he became Secretary in December 1957. He continued his association with ASME after his retirement in 1971 acting in a consultancy capacity to his successor Dr Finch. | |||

Oscar Bernhardt Schier (Fellow) of New York, died on Jun 16 aged 65.
Former Secretary of ASME, he was educated at Baltimore Institute and Lehigh University, USA. He received his professional training at Brooklyn Edison Co, New York where he was engaged in various engineering activities until 1941 when he was seconded to the Production Service Division in the War Production Board of the US Government.
