Licence Granted to "Oilfields of England, Ltd."
An Important Development.
Another important development in connection with the British home supply of petroleum is the issue by the Minister of Munitions of a licence to the Oilfields of England, Limited, Worcester House, Walbrook, City, to search and bore for, and get petroleum near Newark. ....' [1]

1920 'OILFIELDS OF ENGLAND. A circular has been issued by the directors of Oilfields of England stating that complete equipment has at last been assembled on the company’s fields at Kelham, near Newark (Notts) and that drilling operations on the site selected for the first well were started Wednesday, 8 September.'[2]

1923 'Oilfields of England. Having failed in its quest for oil at Kelham, near Newark, Nottinghamshire, the Oilfields of England Ltd., subsequently turned its attention to some Spanish concessions, which have imposed such a strain on the company's resources that a short-term debenture for £4,750 had to be issued. .....'[3]
