Norman Walter John Gibson (1864- ) Assoc.M.Inst.C.E.

1864 Born son of Joseph and Agnes Butler Gibson (shipowner)

Married Marion Isabel, d. of the late Henry Ough, architect.

Educated at Private schools, Hampstead and Godalming, and King's School, Canterbury.

Articled to John Wilson, Dean's Yard, Westminster.

1882- Engaged on Millwall Docks.

1883-97 G.E. Railway. Engaged on Cambridge and Mildenhall Line, and London Division, G.E. Railway

1897-1900 Metropolitan District Railway. Experimental work, electric traction, Metropolitan District Railway

1900- Railway Engineer, Royal Arsenal, Woolwich. Reorganized and enlarged railways, Royal Arsenal, Woolwich.

WWI Royal Arsenal, Woolwich. Increased mileage from 80 to 160 in an acreage of 1,200 acres, mixed gauge, 4 ft. in. and 1 ft. 6 in.
