c.1923 Association formed by water pipe and fittings manufacturers, builders' merchants, architects, hot water engineers and others in response to the activities of the British Waterworks Association which wanted to secure for its members statutory control over water consumers' choice of fittings, &c. This was bound up with discussions about standardisation of fittings[1]
