The Museo del Recuerdo ("The Museum of Memory") exhibits carriages, machinery, tools and different objects used by pioneers that settled here. It also has a Marine Pavilion and a replica of a typical colonial home. The Museum was founded in 1969 and is the seat of the Patagonian Institute of the Universidad de Magallanes (Magellan University). It is 4 kilometers northeast of Punta Arenas.
