Motor Panels

1937 Motor Panels (Holdings) Ltd was registered as a public company[1].

1939 Motor Panels (Coventry) was registered as a private company[2]. Motor Panels (Holdings) was put into voluntary liquidation[3]

By 1960 was part of Owen Organisation.

1960 Made the body and undertook final construction of the Bluebird car[4]

1961 Sheet metal and presswork, fabricated metal products. 750 employees. [5]

1963 Motor Show exhibitor. Car body panels.[6]

1970s Introduced standardised cab

c.1976 introduced lightweight alumuminium cab

By 1980 was the cab design and manufacturing subsidiary of Rubery, Owen and Co. About 25 percent of turnover was from design and supply of cab manufacturing facilities to overseas companies [7].

1982 Motor Panels (Wigan) was part of the Rubery Owen group[8].

1991 Appointment of administrative receivers to Motor Panels (Coventry)[9] and Motor Panels (Wigan)[10]

1991 The British and American businesses were acquired by Mayflower Corporation from C. H. Industrials

1995 Name of Motor Panels (Coventry) had been changed to MPC Realisations Ltd; final liquidation[11]

1997 Motor Panels (Coventry) was building the body for the Aston Martin DB7 and truck cabs for Leyland DAF; expected to build the body for the new Rover MG sports car[12]
