Mors Smitt, of Burton, supplier of controls and systems to railway and other industries

1898 Societé d’Electricité et Automobiles Mors was founded in France

1900 Netherlands Instruments Factory (NIF) established

1902 Smitt was founded in the Netherlands

1913 NIF became NIEAF (Netherlands Instruments and Electrical Apparatus Factory)

1984 Smitt merged with NIEAF.

1990 Dardel Industries acquired Nieaf-Smitt

1996 Dardel Industries acquired the Mors Relay Division. Presumably the group became Mors Smitt Group at this time.

2003 Mors Smitt Technology USA was created

2008 Foundation of MorsSmitt Asia in Hong Kong and Zhongshan Relay Limited in China.

2011 Acquired STS Rail.

2012 Wabtec corporation acquired Mors Smitt Group.

2020 Serves:

  • Railway rolling stock industry with components such as relays, safety critical electronics and complete measuring and control solutions.
  • Railway signalling and infrastructure industry with signalling, relays and safety testers.
  • Power utility, manufacturing, maritime and installation industries with relays, panel indicators and test and measuring equipment.
