MORASTON ORMEROD NORRIS, son of Mr. J. E. Norris, solicitor, was born in Halifax, Yorkshire, on 5th December 1857; and after being educated at Clifton College, entered the Royal Indian Engineering College, Cooper's Hill, in September 1877, where he went through the three years' course.
He was then sent for a year to the locomotive engine works of Messrs. Dubs, Glasgow; and then to the Great Western Railway works at Swindon.
In October 1882 he went to Madras, in the service of the Public Works Department, to the irrigation works in the Godavery district; and after a few months was transferred at his own request to the Ajmeer and Malwa Railway.
Being taken ill there with severe paralysis in July 1884, he returned home; and died in Paris on 7th April 1885, at the ago of twenty-seven.
He became a Graduate of the Institution in 1881.
