1949 Metropolitan-Vickers transferred its Warrington works and all technical and commercial work on the metallic carbides to a new company, Metro-Cutanit Limited, formed jointly with Cutanit Limited which had hitherto bought and marketed these sintered carbides.
Metro-Cutanit also handled Elmet compound metals, formerly made by Compound Electro-Metals Limited for use in switchgear, resistance welding equipment, bearings, etc.
