James Jones Meldrum started the works, manufacturing steam jet apparatus, such as acid elevators, compressors, ejectors, &c.

1886 James's brother, John Wesley Meldrum, joined the firm in City-road, Manchester, Meldrum Brothers.

1899 Makers of acid elevators, gas exhausters and of the "Simplex Dust Destructor". They exhibited at the 1899 Crystal Palace Exhibition including the "Koker Stoker" illustrated here.

1902 The works were moved to Timperley, Cheshire.

1912 Incorporated as a Limited Company, Meldrums Ltd.
