One of only two examples in Britain of a large wrought iron truss girder viaduct supported on wrought iron piers. The other is Bennerley Viaduct.
In fact there are two viaducts, their decks being adjacent, and their legs overlapping in the middle. The two are tied together at various positions. The first bridge was completed in 1874, the second in 1879.
