1935 Inquest. 'RACING CYCLIST'S DEATH. NARROW TYRES CATCH IN TRAMLINES. The cycle which Maurice Gaeten Selbach, cycle manufacturer, and well-known racing cyclist, was riding down Brixton Hill when he was killed, was taken into the Camberwell Coroner's Court today. The cycle, was stated, had one inch tyres Instead of the usual one and half inch. Evidence was given that the cycle caught in the tramlines, and Selbach was flung under a lorry. The Coroner (Mr. Douglas Cowburn) said it very hazardous procedure to ride cycles with such narrow tyres in the streets of London where there were tramlines. A verdict of Accidental death was returned.'[2]
