1841 Marriott and Atkinson was the only source of the new steel made by Indian Iron and Steel Co

c.1859 Installed a regenerative heating furnace at the Steel Works, Sheffield, heating the steel for the rolling mill, which was still performing well 3 years later[1]

1862 Listed as 'Marriott and Atkinson, merchants and manufacturers, of steel, edge tools, table knives, files, railway springs etc. and tilters and rollers, Fitzalan Works, Attercliffe and Royds Rolling Mills' [2]

1885 Mr Charles Fanshawe Atkinson of Fitzalan Works, Sheffield

By 1890 the Fitzalan Works had been acquired by Cocker Brothers.
