1900 Amalgamation of Lloyds Tyne Public Chain and Anchor Testing Co Limited with Lloyds Staffordshire Proving House Co, Limited; Lloyds Cambrian Chain and Anchor Co, Limited; the Glasgow Anchor and Chain Cable and Testing Co, Limited; the various companies were wound up voluntarily and replaced by a new company with the name of Lloyds British Testing Co; Sir Benjamin Hingley represented the new company[1]
1900 The company was registered on 2 April, to acquire the businesses of four companies. [2]. Formed in response to recent legislation regarding the safety of anchors and cable, the business had a large N. Hingley and Sons shareholding and Hingley representation on its board.
1971 A tester and hirer of lifting equipment. Acquired by Close Brothers[3]
1974 Was a subsidiary of Francis Sumner; sold H. Cox (Plant Hire) Ltd, Hiracrane Ltd, and depots at Coventry and Truro[4]
1977 Acquired by Davy International; became part of subsidiary Herbert Morris[5]
1988 Davy acquired 2 US crane companies which would expand the activities of the Lloyds British Testing[6]
1991 Trafalgar House, after acquiring Davy, sold Lloyds British Testing to Kone Corporation of Finland[7]
2002 Floated on the AIM market[8]
