Lister Electrical Machinery Co
Lister Electrical Machinery Co or Lister Electric Manufacturing Co.[1]
Previously the Lister Electric Light and Power Manufacturing Co at the Rivers Mill, Dursley.
1903 Ashton Lister took over the company on the death of William Lister. Formed the Lister Electrical Machinery Co.
1903 Issued a catalogue consisting of a price list of continuous current motors.[2]
1905 The Lister Electric Manufacturing Company, of Dursley purchased the entire business of Headley Limited, of Moresk Mills, Truro. The business would be transferred to Dursley[3]
1907 The company and factory was taken over by John Herbert St. Hill Mawdsley when he arrived in the town. He promptly renamed the mill the "Zone Works" to commemorate the "Zone" patents he held on the design of a 2-pole DC motor. Mr Mawdsley originally lived at Rednock House prior to moving to Barnwood in Gloucester, after which he travelled daily by car to the factory in Dursley.
The company was renamed Mawdsleys
