Leopold Friedman (1907-1998)
1907 Born Moscow
1919 with his mother and brother, Harry, moved to Riga
1922 His father, who had been importing water heaters, cookers, etc., left Russia and joined the family in Riga
Moved to England, studied engineering at Imperial College
c.1930 Spent a year at Junkers factory in Dessau, Germany.
Joined his father in developing the Ascot Gas Water Heaters business and manufacturing gas water heaters.
1945 Appointed managing director of De La Rue Gas Development
Joined Rubery, Owen and Co, established their presence in East European markets after Khrushchev came to power, won contracts for e.g. foundry production lines for truck plants in Russia.
1998 Died at Borehamwood[1]
