LEONARD MOUNTFORD SMITH, born at Birmingham on the 1st September, 1882, lost his life by drowning on the 19th July, 1912, at St. Honorine, Normandy.
Articled to the late Mr. H. B. Nichols, of Birmingham, he subsequently became an assistant to Messrs. Beesley, Son and Nichols, of Westminster, and was chief assistant at the time of his death. He acted as Resident Engineer on the Sutton-in-Ashfield and Stratton sewage-disposal works.
Mr. Smith was elected an Associate Member of The Institution on the 5th April, 1910.
