LEONARD ANDREWS, M.B.E., who was born on the 16th April, 1869, died on the 5th July, 1956.
He was apprenticed to the Brush Electrical Co. and then entered the service of Hastings Corporation and was Borough Electrical Engineer from 1893 until 1902, when he went into private practice.
During the First World War, he became Superintending Engineer of the Metropolitan Munitions Committee and from 1918 to 1921 was consulting engineer to Messrs Johnson Matthey Ltd, Metallurgists.
Subsequently he engaged on research into the behaviour of solids suspended in liquids and was responsible for the design of a variety of industrial installations in connexion with the separation of materials.
Mr. Andrews was the Author of “Electricity Control”1 and of many Papers to various scientific societies....[more]
