1839 Advert: 'IMPORTANT SALE of THE VALUABLE MACHINERY, UTENSILS, AND STOCK OF THE VICTORIA FOUNDRY, LIVERPOOL. MESSRS. THOMAS WINSTANLEY and SONS are directed by the Assignees to SELL by AUCTION, on MONDAY next, the 2d Decenther and following days, at twelve o'clock punctually each day, on the Waterloo Dock, Liverpool, the Valuable MACHINERY, WORKING IMPLEMENTS, and UTENSILS of the above extensive establishment, lately carried on by Messrs. LEE, BELL, and Co. and which has been fitted up at a considerable outlay, with Apparatus and Instruments on the most improved principle and modern costruction, which are now in the best working condition. They consist of a capital Eight Horse High Pressure Steam-Engine, with Gearing and Cistern, an Excellent Planing Machine, with 8 feet bed, by Sharpe and Roberts, of Manchester, a valuable large Geared Surface Lathe, with face plate six feet diameter, arranged to act as a Boring Mill, a 10-inch Self-acting Slide Lathe, 8 feet bed, with compound Slide Rest, several 10 and 12 inch Geared Lathes, with Chocks, &c. complete, a valuable Double-Screw Machine, a Drilling and Slotting Machine, a great variety of Turning Tools, Taps, Dies, Boring Rods, Drills, &c. a large and powerful Foundry Crane, Two Cupolas, a Drying Stove, with Railway and Carriage. a great quantity of Casting Boxes, of different dimensions, Eight Smithy Hearths, Three Pairs of Bellows, several large Anvils and Swage Blocks, a great variety of Smithy Tools, Two Smithy Cranes, excellent Vices and Benches, Mandrills, Engineers' Tools, Four excellent Jack Screws, Fanner and Blast Pipe, Brass Founders' Furnaces, a quantity of Crucibles and Casting Boxes, Cast Cisterns, some unfinished Machinery, Bar Iron, Spring Steel, and a large quantity of Scrap, Wrought, and Cast Iron, Nuts, Screws, &c. Together with the valuable collection of WOOD PATTERNS, including those of 8, 10, 12, and 30 Horse Engines, Eight Horse Sugar Mill, Surface Lathe, large and Small Cranes, a variety of Bevel and Spur Wheels, &c. several Pattern Makers' Benches a quantity of Crab and Apple Timber for Cogs, Mahogany and Deal Planks, old Timber, &c. with a great variety of smaller and less important Articles connected with the Business of an Iron Foundry. The OFFICE FIXTURES will also be sold - they comprise Mahogany Desks, Writing Tables, Glazed Bookcases, &c. and the Gas Fittings throughout the Premises.
