Lancefield Forge Co
1841 The Lancefield Forge was operated by Messrs. Fulton and Neilson — the former being a brother-in-law of David Napier.[1]
1850 Mentions John Fulton who died 27th December 1844, sometime Smith and Ironfounder, of Fulton and Neilson. Amongst Signatories is Walter Neilson[2]
c.1850 Installed Condie's steam hammer
1870 James Ferguson left the partnership.[3]
1871 Demonstration of the first "gas furnace" of its kind at Lancefield (fuelled by coal) for heating blooms for making into plate; it was built to the patent of John Donald, one of the partners in the company[4]
