1964 Obituary[1]
"We regret to record the death on August 31st of Mr L. Clegg, M.B.E., C.G.I.A., M.I.Chem.E., F.Inst.F., chief engineer of the National Industrial Fuel Efficiency Service. Mr Clegg, who was sixty-three, was educated at Rochdale, Manchester and Edinburgh, and after serving an engineering apprenticeship was engaged in industry until 1948, when he joined the Fuel Efficiency Branch of the Ministry of Fuel and Power. When in 1954, N.I.F.E.S. assumed responsibility for promotion of fuel efficiency. Mr Clegg joined the organisation. Shortly afterwards he was appointed chief engineer."
