Jute Industries Ltd was formed from the amalgamation of six Dundee jute companies.
1920 Registered as a limited company in England to acquire the following companies:[1]
- Thomas Bell and Sons
- Cox Brothers
- Gilroy, Sons and Co
- J. and A. D. Grimond
- John N. Kyd and Co
- Harry Walker and Sons
1922 Associated companies included Thomas Bell and Sons. Also in the group was Gilroy, Sons and Co. The 7 companies in the group accounted for about one-third of jute consumption in Britain and about 50 percent of all of the textile operatives in Dundee. Acquired F. S. Sandeman and Sons. Acquired the merchant house, Thomas Taylor and Co.[2]

1923 Acquired the Stanley Cotton Belting Co of Stanley[4]
1971 Jute Industries (Holdings) Ltd changed its name to Sidlaw Industries Ltd
1981 Changed name to Sidlaw Group plc
