1899 March 1st. Birth of son George Julius Webber (1899-1982) See Note 1 below

1900 Mention at Trading as J. Webber, 14 Park Street, Manchester, cap manufacturer.[1]

1900 Bankrupt. '...Joseph Simon Webber (trading under the name of J. Webber), now residing at 303 Great Cheetham Street, Higher Broughton, Salford, but previously at 117 Broughton Lane, Lower Broughton, Salford, and carrying on business at 14 Robert Street, Cheetham, Manchester, cap manufacturer.'[2]

1905 June 3rd. Birth of son Alfred Disraeli Webber (1905-1983)

1911 Living at 366 Bury New Road, Broughton, Lancashire: Joseph Webber (age 35 born Austria and naturalised in 1906), Gas Lighting Goods Dealer. With his wife Rose Webber (age 33 born Roumania) and their children George Webber (age 12 born Manchester); Luise Webber (age 9 born Manchester); and Alfred Webber (age 5 born Manchester). One servant.[3]

Notes

1. Obituary notice for George Julius Webber states he was a reader of English Law at University College, London until 1966. Attended Manchester Grammar School and read law at University College. Practised lay and one of the longest serving head of chambers. Chairman of the Jewish memorial Council for 27 years and vice-president of the London Board of Jewish Religious Education.[4]
