JOSEPH RICHARD HAINES, born at Tipton, died at Weston Coyney Hall, Staffordshire, on the 12th January, 1912, aged 68.
Having served his apprenticeship in the mining branch of the profession, he undertook the management of collieries at Dudley and Keele, subsequently accepting the position of manager of Adderley Green collieries, which he held until his retirement in 1909, when he was appointed managing director. He also carried on an extensive consulting practice.
Mr. Haines was elected an Associate Member of The Institution on the 37th May, 1879.
