1791 Advert: 'To be Sold, by Auction, on Thursday the 30th of June 1791, (if not previously disposed of by private Contract, of which Notice will be given) at the house of Mr. Joseph Owen, near St. Michael’s Chinch, Angel Meadow, in Manchester, A COMPLEAT SET of TOOLS, for the entire Manufactory of Iron Rollers, for Spinning, Roving, Carding, &c. consisting in the first Place of a very good Set of Smiths Tools, viz, a Pair of Bellows, an Anvil, Hammers, Tonges, Swages, Punchs, Bolsters, &c. compleat, one large hot Vice, one cold ditto, one small Vice, suitable for coupling Rollers, &c. a large lever Drill, with Brace, Bits, &c. a Bench Brace, with Bits, &c. a Set of Screw Plates, Wrenches, &c. a Lathe 7 Feet long, 1 Foot deep, and 15 Inches broad, very suitable for the Herning[? turning?] any Thing which requires Strength, with a large Wheel, a most complete Fluting engine, calculated to Flute any Size of a Roller.<br>At the same time will be Sold, An Iron Lathe, with Iron Headstocks, a Foot Wheel, &c. Also a Wood Lathe, with very strong Iron Work, capable of turning a Pully, 16 Inches Diameter, with a large Wheel.
