Sir Joseph Napier (1804–1882), judge

1804 born in Belfast on 26 December the youngest son of William Napier, a merchant of Belfast descended from the Napiers of Merchiston, Scotland, and Rosetta Macnaghten of Ballyreagh House, Co. Antrim

Napier had a long association with Trinity College and the University of Dublin.

1848 Member of parliament for the university between 1848 and 1858

1867 Vice-chancellor from 1867 to 1880.
