Joseph Knowles Broadbent (1833-1918) of J. K. Broadbent

1867 Patent. '19. And Joseph Knowles Broadbent, of the city of Manchester, in the county of Lancaster, has given the like notice in respect of the invention of "improvements in machinery or apparatus for the prevention of smoke from furnaces used for steam boilers, and other similar.purposes."'[1]

1870 Partnership dissolved. '... the Partnership heretofore subsisting and carried on between us the undersigned, Joseph Knowles Broadbent, Samuel Prestwich, and John Prestwich, carrying on business at Farnworth, in the count) of Lancaster, as Manufacturers of Smoke Burning Machinery, under the style or firm of Broadbent and Prestwich, is this day dissolved by mutual consent, and that all debts due and owing to and by the said firm, will be received and paid by the said Samuel Prestwich and John Prestwich...'[2]

1877 Liquidation. '...Special Resolution for Liquidation by Arrangement of the affairs of Joseph Knowles Broadbent, of 38, Park-street and 9, Datum-street, Cheetham, in the county of Lancaster, Engineer and Machinist...'[3]
