Joseph Fletcher Smith
Joseph Fletcher Smith (1760-1804) of Sheffield
Henry Smith was included in the original charter to the Cutlers Company granted by James I in 1624.
John Smith, who was Master Cutler in 1722 and Town Collector of Sheffield in 1731, was a grandfather of Joseph Fletcher Smith.
The Smith family first acquired blast-furnaces in 1740 when John Smith, son of John Smith, bought an interest in Sheffield blast-furnaces, which eventually became his sole property. His son was Fletcher Smith

His son was Benjamin Smith who started Stanton Ironworks
1804 Died in Ecclesall Bierlow. “This day died Mr. J. F. Smith in the strength of his age, a victim to his own excessive love of good eating and drinking, and too great dislike for employment.”[2]
