Jones, Loyd and Co

of London. A private bank.

c.1784 established by Joseph Jones Joseph Jones and Co. It was created as an offshoot of John Jones and Co (of Manchester), and was intended to act as that bank's London agency. Originally located in Watling Street, but moved to Walbrook.

c. 1788 Moved to Lothbury.

1791 Joseph Jones was joined by his brother Daniel, and the firm became known as Joseph and Daniel Jones and Co.

1808 Name changed to Jones, Loyd and Co.

1825 The bank was one of those authorized to receive funds for the first attempt at building the Manchester Ship Canal

1848 The link with the Manchester bank was severed due to partnership changes.

1864 Acquired by London and Westminster Bank
