JOHN WILLIAM ADAMS was for eighteen years manager of the Leeds branch of the [[Skefko Ball-Bearing Co|Skefko Ball-Bearing Company, Ltd]]. He was born in Brussels in 1882 and was educated at the Athenee Royale and at the Ecole de Navigation, Antwerp. In 1899 he commenced a three years' apprenticeship with the [[Bell Telephone Co|Bell Telephone Company, Ltd.]], Antwerp (the Belgian branch of the Western Electric Company), and afterwards came to England and joined the [[Sturtevant Engineering Co|Sturtevant Engineering Company, Ltd.]], as a draughtsman.
