John Taylor (1822-1904), engineer, ironfounder, of Midland Foundry, Queen's Road, Nottingham

c.1822 Born in Nottinghamshire, son of John Turner, printer[1]

1841 A turner's apprentice, living in Nottingham in the house of John Manning[2]

1847 Married Mary Oldknow in Aston[3]; Mary was daughter of John Oldknow, a machinist.

1851 An iron turner, lived in Lincoln with Mary Taylor 24, William Taylor 2, Henry Taylor 1, John Taylor 3 Months[4]

1861 John Taylor 38, iron turner, lived in Nottingham with Mary Taylor 33, William Taylor 13, Charles H Taylor 11, John James Taylor 10, Joseph Taylor 6, and his niece Mary Ann Oldknow 15[5]

1871 Ironfounder employing 38 men and 7 boys, lived in Sherwood, with Mary Taylor 50, Charles Hy Taylor 21, machine fitter, John James Taylor 20, iron forger, Joseph Taylor 16, pattern maker, Mary Elizth Taylor 3, Alice Eliza Taylor 2, and his sister Anne Taylor 53[6]

1873 Joined the I Mech E

1881 Engineer & Iron Founder, lived in Sherwood with Mary Taylor 53, Mary E. Taylor 13, Alice E. Taylor 12[7]

1891 Engineer, lived in Nottingham with Mary Taylor 63, Mary E Taylor 23, Alice E Taylor 22[8]

1895 retired from the business which was continued by his son.

1904 Died in Nottingham[9]
