John Russell (1796-1873) of John Russell and Co, Russell and Browns of the Blaina Iron Works

1817 May 1st. Married in Worcester to Mary Downs of Alton Court, Hants. They had four daughters.

1827 September. Advertisement. John Russell commences business as a Brass and Iron Founder at the Severn Foundry, Worcester.[1]

1830 Death of his mother 'On Wednesday, in her 88th year, Mrs. Lydia Russell, mother of Mr. John Russell, Iron founder of this city (Worcester)'[2]

1836 Sale of furniture at Tybridge Place, the property of John Russell who is removing part of his establishment to Blaina Iron Works.[3]

1852 Acquired Cwmtillery Colliery

Moved between Terhill House at Cheltenham, Risca House, and The Wyelands at Chepstow,

1856 After several years of having leased Piercefield, the neighbouring estate to Wylands, he acquired the Piercefield Estate.

1867 John Russell acquired the estates of Badgeworth Court, Churchdown, Gloucestershire

1873 March 1st. Died. Late of Terhill House, Cheltenham. 'Russell.—March 1, John Russell, Esq , of Terhill House and Badgworth Ceurt, Cheltenham, formerly of Risca, and one of the oldest magistrates for county Monmouth, aged 85.'[4]
