JOHN ROBERT WORSEY was chief lecturer in the mechanical engineering department of the Handsworth Technical College, Birmingham, having held that position since 1912, and for an equal period he had been in charge of the department.

He was born in 1880 and received his technical education at the Birmingham Municipal Technical School. After serving his apprenticeship with Messrs. Tangyes, Ltd., from 1896 to 1901, he continued with that firm as draughtsman until 1912 and was chiefly engaged on the design of pumping machinery. From 1915 to 1918 he was in charge of the Munitions Training Centre at Handsworth Technical College.

Mr. Worley was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1907. His death occurred on 9th July 1942.
