1782 Advertisement. 'Cotton Manufactory. To be LETT, And ENTERED on Immediately. ALL that large and conveuient BUILDING, MESSUAGE, and good DWELLING-HOUSE, in Stockport, called the Castle, late in the Occupation of Mr. John Milne and Sons, and very suitable for the Carding, Roving, and Spinning Cotton, or other extensive Manufactory. There is a very large and excellent Water Wheel in the Building, worked by the Stockport River, and the whole Premises are as commodious and complete as possible, for the Purpofes above mentioned.'[1]
