JOHN McCORMICK, born at Portsmouth in 1843, died at Sydney on the 3rd October, 1910. Joining the Navy at an early age, he served several years afloat, and then took up contracting.
He built a large number of bridges in New Zealand and Australia, some from his own designs, his contracts including the North Sydney suspension bridge, the Indooroopilly and Victorian bridges, and the Pyrmont bridge swing-span.
Mr. McCormick was elected an Associate of the Institution on the 2nd December, 1890.
