John Hill (of Leith)
of Leith and Greenwich and Bath
On the 3d of February, 1824, a patent was granted to T. Birstall and John Hill, of Leith, for a locomotive steam carriage; an account of which was first given in the Edinburgh Journal of Science.[1]
1825 Patent. 'To Timothy Burstall, of Bankside, the parish of St. Saviour's, Southwark; and John Hill of Greenwich, Kent, Engineers; for a locomotive, or steam carriage, for the conveyance of mails, passengers, and goods.'[2]
1825 Patent. John Hill described as late of Greenwich and now of Bath.[3]
1827 His brother, a boy, was injured in the trails.[4]
