John Gretton (1793-1867) of Bass, Ratcliff and Gretton

1793 June 9th. Born the son of Thomas Gretton and his wife Sarah

1832 July 10th. Married Mary Sutton

1861 Living at 136 High Street, Burton-on-Trent: John Gretton (age 67 born Skelton nr Burton), Brewer, the resident partner of the firm of Bass, Ratcliffe and Gretton, Brewers of Burton-on-Trent, employing 1084 men and 83 boys. With his wife Fanny Gretton (age 26 born Burton-on-Trent) and their two sons; John Gretton (age 24 born Burton-on-Trent), Captain of the Company of Staff Rifles Volunteers; Fredck Gretton (age 22 born Burton-on-Trent), Gent. and Lieut. of the 8th Company of the Rifle Volunteers. Four servants.[1]
