John Ernest Hutton (1877-1952) of J. E. Hutton Ltd

1877 Born the son of John Hutton MP of Solberge, Northallerton. [1]

Educated at Eton and Trinity Hall, Cambridge; then electrical training.

1899 December 27th. Married Beatrice Mary Georgina Louise Bernard of Mackney, Balingsloe, Ireland at Folkestone [2]

1904 'HUTTON, J. E., J.P., 57, Ashley Gardens, London, S.W. Is Managing Director of J. E. Hutton, Ltd., 81 to 83, Shaftesbury Avenue, London, W.C., and Thames Ditton, and is a well-known racing motorist. Was educated at Eton and Trinity Hall, Cambridge. Was trained as an electrical engineer was responsible for many electrical installations in the United Kingdom, and for over twenty in Switzerland. Started motoring in 1897 on a 4-h.p. Panhard, and soon went in for racing. Was third in Nice-Salon-Nice Race, 1901; winner of 200-guineas Cup at Phoenix Park, 1903 races on 60-h.p. Mercedes; won the Scarisbrick Cup, Southport, 1903, on a 70-h.p. Panhard, etc. Is author of numerous technical articles, and of a chapter on motoring in Badminton, and of a chapter on the same subject in "Cars, and How to Drive Them." Is a Justice of the Peace for North Yorkshire. Clubs: New Street (Edinburgh), A.C.G.B. & I. (Executive Committee).' [5]

HUTTON, J. ERNEST.- Born in 1877, and educated at Eton and Trin. Hall, Cambridge, Mr. J. Ernest Hutton is an Associate of the Institute of Electrical Engineers and a J.P. for Yorkshire. He is an electrical engineer, with a considerable practice both in the United Kingdom and the Continent, his special attention having been devoted to the installation of electrical plants. Since 1901 Mr. Hutton has devoted himself principally to automobilism, amongst his other pursuits and amusements being shooting, photography, and skating. He has been a member of the Club since August 9th, 1899, and on the Club Committee since March 5th, 1901.
