JOHN DAVID JOHNSON was associated with the Northern Manufacturing Company, Ltd., gear manufacturers, and its parent company, Messrs. Rose Brothers, Ltd., of Gainsborough, for more than forty years. He received his technical education at the Gainsborough Technical School.
On the conclusion of a seven years' apprenticeship with the firm in 1910, he was made junior draughtsman and three years later was promoted to be chief draughtsman. After holding this position for eight years he was appointed chief engineer and head of the technical staff, an appointment he retained up to the time of his death, which occurred on 3rd March 1945, in his fifty-seventh year.
Mr. Johnson was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1919.
