In 1900 the American Machinist described and illustrated a ten-shot magazine shoulder gun made by John Cookson in 1586. The author, Edward G. Parkhurst, described it as 'a superb piece of mechanism - the most wonderful piece of workmanship I have ever seen and been allowed to handle.'[1]
