1836 Advertising as John Blaylock, clock and watch maker, jeweller, etc., having removed to 53 Scotch street, Carlisle,[2]. The business was established in 1768. [3]
1846 'DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP. Notice is hereby given that PARTNERSHIP heretofore subsisting between is, the undersigned JOHN BLAYLOCK, of the city of Carlisle, Engine Manufacturer, and JAMES HAMILTON, of the same place, Engine Manufacturer, carrying on the respective Trades or Businesses of Manufacturers of Engines, Millwrights, Machine Makers, and Ironfounders, and Steam Boiler Manufacturers in Carlisle aforesaid, under the respective styles or firms of "John Blaylock and Company and 'The Bridge End Iron Foundry Company" was DISSOLVED by mutual consent on the first day of September last. 1857 Advert: 'JOHN BLAYLOCK AND CO., LONG ISLAND FOUNDRY, BEG to intimate to Proprietors of Steam Engines, that, having recently fitted suitable Machinery, they are prepared to undertake the Boring Out of Cylinders and Fitting in new Pistons without removing them from their Seats.
In all ordinary cases two days will be quite sufficient for completing the above and setting the Engine to work again.
