John Alexander Moore (1881- )

1922 B.Eng., R.U.I., Assoc.M.Inst.C.E., Civil and Mechanical Engineer, Military Works Services, Nowshera, North-West Frontier Province, India; b. 1881. Ed. at Coleraine Academical Institution and Queen's College, Galway; Cochrane Scholarship at former, Exhibitioner and Engineering Scholar at latter. Career: 1904— Graduated B.Eng. of the R.U.I. 1904-6—Assistant to County Surveyor of County Roscommon. 1906-7 —District Engineer, Congested Districts Board for Ireland; obtained first place in open Competitive Examination for this position. 1907-12—Assistant Engineer, Public Works Department, Federated Malay States. 1912-13—Executive Engineer, Public Works Department, Federated Malay States. 19136—Director of Universal Machinery Corporation, Ltd., London. 1916-9—On War Service. 1920—Military Works Services, Garrison Engineer, Nowshera. Chief Works: zoo miles new Trunk Road through State of Pahang, Federated Malay States; surveyed and constructed same under directions of State Engineer. Clubs: Corona Club, London; Nowshera Club, India. War Services.-1916-9—Served with R.N. A. S., afterwards R.A.F., first as First Grade Mechanic, then Leading Mechanic and finally 2nd-Lieutenant; 3 months in Dunkirk, remainder of time on home service. 1920—On active service at Landi Kotal, Khyber Pass, India, as Lieutenant, M.W.S.
