James Stringer (c1818-1885), founding partner of Singer and Co and whose daughter married George Singer

1842 September 13th. Married at Foleshill to Mary Ann Spencer

1861 Living at 14 Paradise Street, Coventry: James Stringer (age 43 born Birmingham), Ribbon Warehouseman. With his Wife Mary Anne Stringer (age 41 born Coventry) and their daughter Eliza Anne Stringer (age 17 born Kenilworth), School Teacher.[1]

1871 Living at 14 Paradise Street, Coventry: James Stringer (age 53 born Birmingham), Bookeeper (sic). With his wife Mary A. Stringer (age 51 born Coventry) and their son James C. Stringer (age 8 born Coventry)[2]

1885 July 16th. Died at St. Andrew's Hospital, Northampton. Late of 12 Jesson Street, Coventry. Gentleman. Probate to James Charles Stringer, son and machinist of Coventry, and George Singer, bicycle manufacture of Coventry.
