1811 Went into business with his brother, John Russell, making wrought iron tubes but was then recruited by Aaron Manby

1816 Rejoined his brother in the business which later became John Russell and Co

1823 Went into business for himself at Crown Tube Works, which later became James Russell and Sons

1836 James Russell, of Handsworth, Gas-Tube-Manufacture, petitioned for extension of Cornelius Whitehouse's patent on tube making[1]
