1851 Living at 48 Vincent Square, Westminster: James Philp (age 71 born Scotland), Cutler and Widower. With his daughter Mary A. Philp (age 44 born Westminster). Two servants.[1]
1859 November 15th. Died at 48 Vincent Square, Westminster, and of 67 St. James Street. Age 80.[2]
1863 Court case concerning his estate. Mentions a falling out with his daughter Ann Philp. 'The deceased had come from Scotland many years ago, and had prospered in his business'[3]
