JAMES LIDDELL ROSINI was superintendent of construction at the head office in Westminster of the Anglo-American Oil Company, in whose service he had been since 1915. He was then engaged as assistant works superintendent at their Mode Wheel Works, Manchester, and later he became assistant superintendent.
From 1916 to 1918 Mr. Rossini was an inspector in the machine-gun shop of Messrs. Beardmore at Dalmuir, but he then returned to the Anglo-American Oil Company's works at Barrow as assistant superintendent.
In 1919 he was appointed superintending engineer of the Manchester works, and he attained his last position in 1929. During this period he superintended the design and erection of oil storage and distributing plant, and boiler plant and pumping machinery in various parts of this country.
Mr. Rossini was born in Glasgow in 1883, and served a five years' apprenticeship with Mr. A. Gillespie, consulting engineer. He also attended evening classes at the Royal Technical College.
He then held successive appointments with various firms, including two years with the Paisley Gas Corporation, six years with Messrs. A. Gillespie and Son, to whom he returned in 1904, and four and a half years with the New Oil Refining Process Company of London as works manager. In this capacity he was responsible for the erection of plant and the subsequent manufacture of motor spirit from heavy oils.
Mr. Rossini was elected a Member of the Institution in 1931.
His death occurred on 25th July 1932.
